Authentic Comfort food from Japan
Ramen is a dish that originated in China and was brought to Japan in the late 19th century by Chinese immigrants. It quickly became popular in Japan and has since evolved into a distinct Japanese version, with many regional variations. The dish typically consists of Chinese-style wheat noodles served in a meat or fish-based broth, often flavoured with soy sauce or miso, and topped with ingredients such as sliced pork, dried seaweed, and green onions.
Ramen Arashi Ramen: "Best of the Best"
At Ramen Arashi, we have studied, refined and honed our menu to serve only the "best of the best" regional favourites:
Tonkotsu ramen: 豚骨ラーメンOriginating in the southern city of Fukuoka Japan, a pork bone base makes for a rich, creamy broth. The dish gained popularity in the 1940s and 1950s, and is considered to be one of the most popular types of ramen in Japan. Ours is made with an authentic tonkotsu broth and topped with Pork Belly, Marinated Egg, Garlic Oil, Red Ginger, Garlic, and Green Onion. Available in regular, spicy, and our signature “Devil’s Arashi” spicy version.
Tan tan ramen: 担々麺Tantanmen or "Tan Tan" ramen is characterized by its spicy, peanut-based broth and is made with a sesame paste and chilli oil. This style is said to have originated in the early 20th century in the Yokohama area, where Chinese immigrants introduced the dish. Our version is faithful to the original, featuring authentic tonkotsu broth combined with our original Arashi sesame base. Topped with Pork Belly, Marinated Egg, Spinach, Bamboo Shoots, Crushed Peanuts, Chili Oil, Garlic, Green Onion, and Nori. Available in three versions: regular, black sesame, or spicy base.
Shoyu ramen: 醤油ラーメン The name "shoyu" means soy sauce in Japanese, considered to be the most traditional type of ramen. It was first served in a Tokyo ramen shop in 1910. Slightly salty, our traditional shoyu broth is faithful to the original concept and continues to be a popular choice. Toppings: Pork Belly, Marinated Egg, Spinach, Naruto (Steamed Fish Cake), Bamboo Shoots, Green Onion, and Nori (Seaweed).
Miso ramen: 味噌ラーメン Miso ramen originated on the north island of Hokkaido in Japan. It is made by adding miso paste to the broth, which gives it a unique, rich and savoury flavour. Since its creation in the early 20th century, Sapporo (the capital city of Hokkaido) has become famous as the centre of ramen culture. Our traditional miso broth is topped with Chopped Pork, Egg, Spinach, Corn, Naruto (Steamed Fish Cake), Bamboo Shoots, Butter, and Green Onion.
Yuzu Shio ramen: 柚子塩ラーメン Yuzu Shio ramen is a type of ramen that combines the traditional Japanese flavours of shio (salt) broth with the citrusy tang of yuzu (East Asian citrus fruit). Yuzu Shio represents the evolution of ramen and is considered to be a fusion of traditional and contemporary flavours which appeals to a different type of taste. Yuzu flavour is added to our traditional shio broth and is topped with Pork Belly, Marinated Egg, Mixed Lettuce, Spinach, Yuzu Sauce, Bamboo Shoots, and Green Onion.
